Description

The barn and adjoining cartshed, located immediately north of Trengothal Farmhouse, is a Grade II listed building dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features grouted scantle slate roofs, with a half-hipped roof over the barn and a hipped roof over the cartshed. The building has a rectangular plan, likely serving as a granary over a stable, with a single-storey cartshed on its right. There is also a deep square plan structure that may have originally been a horse-engine house, positioned forward on the far right. An altered, possibly older building is located at right angles and built forward at the far left.

The exterior consists of two storeys with unaltered elevations, although some doorways have been blocked or partly blocked. The southwest front is fairly regular, displaying four visible ground floor doorways and a first-floor loading or winnowing doorway towards the right. The cartshed features wide doorways at the front. This building is part of an unspoiled hamlet that includes an interesting group of farmhouses and farm buildings, all set within a beautiful rural landscape. The interior has not been inspected.
