Description
This is a group of three townhouses, later subdivided, located at The Terrace in Penryn. The core of the building dates to the 17th century, with significant remodelling in the 18th century and renovations around 1980. The walls are constructed from granite rubble with 20th-century timber lintels. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in slate, with a 20th-century brick chimney on the left side. The house has an L-shaped plan, incorporating a wing set at a right angle to the rear left.
The building is two storeys high and has a three-window facade. The first floor contains 20th-century three-light casement windows, replacing earlier 18th-century casements with central opening lights. The ground floor has 20th-century sash windows, and a 20th-century six-panel door is located on the left, leading to a through-passage situated slightly left of the centre.
An inspection around 1980 revealed that the interior still contained numerous 17th, 18th, and 19th-century features, although many were subsequently removed. Surviving features included 17th-century stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, pegged roof structures, an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters, and a very large brick oven at the rear of the wing.
