Description
This is a late 18th-century town house located on The Terrace in Penryn. It is built of granite ashlar with a plinth and keyed arches to the ground and first floors. The roof is steeply pitched, covered in asbestos slate with a modillion cornice, and features slate hanging on studwork to the left-hand end. A brick chimney is outbuilt on the left, and a rendered chimney is on the right.
The house follows a double-depth plan and is constructed in a late Georgian style. It is three storeys high with a regular two-window front. The windows are likely original or from the early 19th century, featuring hornless sashes with glazing bars. Square sashes are present on the second floor. The original doorway, on the right side, is pedimented with a moulded architrave and consoles with guttae panelled reveals, and incorporates an original six-panel door accessed by four granite steps.
Inside, a glazed door with coloured margin panes leads to the entrance hall. The front room retains a moulded 18th-century ceiling cornice, and panelled doors are present throughout. These include an eight-panel door and possibly an original stick baluster staircase with turned newels.
