Description
Milestone located about 130 metres northeast of the vicarage in South Petherwin, likely dating from the late 18th century. This small granite monolith stands approximately 2 feet 6 inches high and has a rectangular shape with a rounded top. The front of the milestone features a carved letter "L" in upper case sans-serif, indicating Launceston, and below it is the number "2" with serifs. The roads leading to Launceston were constructed under the Turnpike Act of 1760.
