Description
The gazebo, located about 10 metres west of Tregeare House, is believed to have originally been built as a dovecot and later used as a game larder and apple loft. It dates from the early 19th century and was repaired in the 20th century. The structure is made of rendered stone rubble and features a thatched roof with deep eaves supported by wooden posts.
This octagonal gazebo is a single storey with a loft, illuminated by an eyebrow dormer. The front has a two-centred arched doorway with an early 19th-century studded plank door fitted with strap hinges. Flanking the doorway are two-light windows, each with a two-centred arch and hood mould, Y tracery, stanchion and saddle bars, and leaded lights. The right side has a blind window, while the left side features a similar two-light window. The rear has a central door similar to the front, with a two-light window on either side. All windows and doorways are topped with hood moulds.
Inside, the ground floor is divided into two small rooms, each accessed from an external door. A ladder at the rear provides access to the loft.
