Description
The Village Pump, dating from the 19th century, is located on the village green in Tregeare, Egloskerry. It features a cast iron pump with a wrought iron handle, mounted on a lead riser. The spout discharges into a granite trough, which is supported by a single stone set on an area of paving that leads to a granite curb stone. The pump is enclosed by coursed rubble walls that rise approximately 1.25 meters high, topped with weathered coping. The front of the structure measures about 2.8 meters wide, while the back wall is 1.8 meters wide. Additionally, a lead pipe extends through the wall at the back. The pump was made by Prokter Lanson in Launceston and is a complete and well-maintained example, situated at the edge of the village green, directly opposite Greystones.
