Description
Tregeare Post Office is a pair of cottages built in the mid to late 19th century for the Lethbridge estate, located in Egloxskerry. The cottages are constructed of stone rubble and feature a rag slate roof with hipped ends and brick axial stacks. The overall design includes a three-room plan with a central bay that is slightly set forward. Each cottage has entrances on the left and right sides, leading directly into large heated rooms.
The exterior is two stories high and presents a symmetrical three-window front. The ground floor openings have dressed stone arches, while the central first-floor openings feature timber lintels. The cottages have 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, and the first-floor windows are set in small gables with scalloped slate verges. The central gabled bay projects and also has scalloped slate verges, with similar two-light casements on both the ground and first floors of the central bay, as well as on the left and right sides. There is a 19th-century slate hood over the side entrance of the left cottage and a 20th-century porch on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
