Description

The Borlase chest tomb, located approximately 14 metres south of the west end of the Church of St Maddern, is a Grade II listed structure from the early 19th century. It commemorates John Benjamin Borlase, MD, who died in 1813 at the age of 61. The tomb features granite monoliths on each side and a slate lid with an incised inscription set into the north side. It has a rectangular plan, a chamfered plinth, and a square-edged lid.
