Description
Talapark is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and cob, with a slate-hung front and a rag slate roof featuring gable ends, which continues in a catslide over a rear outshut. The building has a brick end stack on the left and a projecting stone rubble end stack on the right.
The plan suggests it was originally designed with two rooms and a cross or through passage, heated by the end stacks. The larger hall kitchen is on the right, while the smaller parlour, which may have originally been an unheated room, is at the lower end on the left. A narrow service outshut was probably added across the rear elevation in the 18th century.
The exterior is two storeys high with a regular three-window front and an entrance to the left of centre. There is a 20th-century glazed porch flanked by two replacement two-light casements. On the first floor, there are two replacement two-light casements flanking a central one-light casement.
Inside, there are ceiling beams from around the late 18th century or early 19th century. The right room features a large open fireplace with a roughly cut timber lintel and a cloam oven, while the left room has an early 20th-century grate for heating.
