Description
The wall, gatepiers, and gates of Langford Hill date from the 18th century, with the gates being added in the late 19th century. The structure features stone rubble walls topped with slate coping, and the gate piers are made of ashlar stone with freestone caps. The square gate piers have moulded freestone caps and are topped with stone hounds seated. The gates themselves have a ramped top and middle rails, with two segmental braces below the middle rail that form an oval shape. The verticals of round section extend above the top rail as finials, and similar intermediate verticals also rise as finials above the middle rail. Additionally, the outer stiles are adorned with small moulded volutes above the top rail.
