Description

The stone cross at Carminow is a preaching cross that dates from either the pre-Conquest period or the medieval era. It is made of granite and features a holed wheel-head flared Greek cross mounted on a separate, possibly later, tall monolithic granite shaft. This shaft is set on a 19th-century stepped granite base. Both the shaft and the cross have roll-moulded corners, with lugs or bosses on either side of the neck of the cross. One side of the cross includes a central boss, while the other side has bosses located at the cross arms.
