Description

A row of three houses, originally four, likely built in the 18th century and remodelled around the late 19th century. The houses are constructed of painted rubble with granite dressings, and have grouted scantle slate roofs with brick chimneys rising from the gable ends and over the cross party walls. Initially, the row comprised four single-depth houses; the two central houses each featured one ground floor room and a side entrance lobby, while the end houses had two rooms and a lobby with a staircase between. Number 1 has an attached outshut at the rear, likely originally serving as a pantry. The plan of the two right-hand houses has been altered in the 20th century to create a single dwelling. The building stands on bedrock at the rear. The south front presents a regular facade with seven window openings. The window openings contain four-pane horned sashes. The eaves slightly project, and kneeler stones support the coped gable end of the left-hand house. The doorways of numbers 1 and 2 are in their original positions, while the doorway of number 3 has been repositioned, and the eaves on the right-hand portion were raised around the early 20th century. The interiors remain unexamined.
