Description
The Skardon monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 6 metres west of the tower of the Church of St. Mary and St. Julian. It dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge and a moulded plinth. It has recessed fluted pilasters at the corners and paired inscription panels on the north and south sides, along with a single inscription panel on the east and west sides. The earliest decipherable inscription commemorates John Skardon, who died in 1775, along with other family members.
