Description
The Skidemore monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 2.5 meters south of the west face of the tower of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels. It dates from the 1770s and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge, and the sides have fielded panels. The ends are designed with elongated rectangular balusters, which bear inscriptions on both the balusters and the side panels. The inscriptions include two from the 1770s dedicated to Godwin Skidmore and his wife, as well as mentions of their son who died in 1796, and additional inscriptions from 1833 and 1855 on the ends.
