Description
STOKE CLIMSLAND SX 37 SE 8/101 Range of farm buildings approximately 15m north- west of Deer Park Farmhouse
GV II
Range of farm buildings comprising barn with cart shelter below and cow houses to either side. Early to mid C19 with minor later alterations. Roughly coursed slate- stone with alternating granite quoins; half-hipped slate roofs. In 3 sections, slightly projecting centre section forming bank-barn with cart shelter to ground floor; contemporary lower cowhouses to either side. 2 levels. Centre section has 5 elliptical arches with wedged voussoirs, second and fourth from left infilled. Segmental-headed arch with wedged voussoirs to centre on first floor has wide double doors and similar opposing entrance to rear; small segmental-headed hatch to either side with line of infilled pigeon nesting holes directly below eaves. Left lower range has 2 segmental-headed plank doors alternating with small segmental-headed windows to ground floor and central segmental-headed plank door on first floor flanked by pointed ventilation slits. Similar arrangement to right range. Interior: King-post roof in 7 bays to barn; contemporary collar truss roofs to lower ranges forms part of a good farmyard group.
