Description
This range of farm buildings, located approximately 15 meters northwest of Deer Park Farmhouse, dates from the early to mid 19th century and has undergone minor later alterations. The structure is built from roughly coursed slate-stone with alternating granite quoins and features half-hipped slate roofs. It consists of three sections, with the center section slightly projecting to form a bank barn that includes a cart shelter on the ground floor, flanked by lower cowhouses on either side.
The barn has two levels and is characterized by five elliptical arches with wedged voussoirs, with the second and fourth arches from the left being infilled. There is a segmental-headed arch with wedged voussoirs in the center on the first floor, which has wide double doors, and a similar entrance at the rear. Small segmental-headed hatches are located on either side, with a line of infilled pigeon nesting holes directly below the eaves.
The left lower range features two segmental-headed plank doors alternating with small segmental-headed windows on the ground floor, and a central segmental-headed plank door on the first floor flanked by pointed ventilation slits. The right range has a similar arrangement. Inside, the barn has a king-post roof spanning seven bays, while the lower ranges feature contemporary collar truss roofs, contributing to a cohesive farmyard group.
