Treleigh Manor and Attached Garden Wall, Railings and Gates

Treleigh Manor is a farmhouse, later adapted into a house, dating from around 1700, with subsequent alterations. The main structure is built of coursed squared granite with quoins, while the rear is of uncoursed rubble. It has a slate roof and brick chimneys. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with a two-unit front range and a shorter rear wing to the left, plus an angled addition and added side wings. The front façade is two storeys and two bays, with a low chamfered plinth. The central doorway has a granite surround moulded in two orders, with roll-stops to the jambs, leading to a panelled door. Sixteen-pane sash windows are found on both floors, and some have exposed boxes (with the upper window on the left and lower window on the right being unhorned). The eaves are bracketed, and there are gable chimneys. Set-back one-bay single-storey wings are attached at each end, each with a doorway at the junction (the one on the right is blocked) and a sash window (with four and sixteen panes respectively), topped by an embattled parapet. The rear wing has a doorway in the rear gable, various sash windows, and a lean-to cellar attached to the west side. Inside, panelled doors are fitted with large H-hinges, and there is a dog-legged staircase with a closed string, square newels, stout turned balusters, and a moulded handrail. An original back door is constructed of double-layered oak planks, and a large cellar is located at the rear. A garden wall with railings and gates is attached to the left side of the house and defines the west side and south end of the garden. The side wall is of granite rubble, ramping down from the front of the wing. The front wall is of coursed dressed granite and features a wide concave bow filled with elegant wrought-iron spear-head railings on a granite plinth, with decorated standards. A central gateway has tall open-work standards with flaming-urn finials, a gate with dog-bars, a band of circles, and a ramped top rail, all similarly decorated.
