Description
The Tolgus calciner and the remains of an arsenic labyrinth, along with a chimney, are located on the west side of New Portreath Road in Redruth. This structure dates back to the 19th century and was used for refining arsenic. It is built from granite blocks and rubble, topped with a slate roof. The building is square and consists of a single cell, featuring a low segmental arch at ground level on the east side, various vertical tie-straps, and a pyramidal roof. To the west, there are remains of a brick labyrinth on the rising slope, and at the top, there is a short chimney made of uncoursed rubble and brick.
