Description

Harbour Cottage is a building that was originally a net loft and cellar, converted into a private house. It dates from the 18th century and was extended in the mid to late 20th century. The earlier part of the building features painted slate-stone rubble, with some slate hanging on the front gable end. It has a rag slate roof with gable ends and a brick stack on the rear gable end. The cottage is built into the side of a hill, with the ground rising at the back.

The structure has a rectangular plan and a ground floor entrance leading to a store at the front gable end. There is an entrance to the first-floor loft, which is now used as domestic accommodation, on the left side. The building is two storeys high, with the front gabled end facing the harbour. It has double plank doors on the ground floor and a small four-pane window above. The left side elevation is one storey high, featuring a 3 over 6 pane sash window on the left and a part-glazed 19th-century door near the centre, both topped with raked roofs. There is a 19th-century lean-to store on the right. To the right, a range added in the mid to late 20th century consists of a slate-hung single-storey section, raised on concrete piers with car parking underneath. The front and left side elevations present a picturesque appearance.
