Barn About 50 Metres South Of Rialton Barton Farmhouse

This is a barn with attached outbuildings located about 50 metres south of Rialton Barton Farmhouse. It dates from the 19th century but incorporates 15th century stonework from Rialton Manor. The structure is built from elvan stone rubble with granite quoins and brick dressings, topped with a slate roof featuring ridge tiles and gable ends.

The barn has a large plan with a midstrey, which includes a lean-to on each side. There is a long range of single-storey outbuildings and cart sheds attached to the rear left. The midstrey features a gabled design with double doors and a single light to the left, along with a small loading door above that has a brick segmental arch. Above this, there is stone from Rialton Manor that may have originally formed a 4-centred arch over a double doorway, with the spandrels carved with shields of arms and a heraldic figure. Lean-tos are present on both sides of the midstrey, and the barn extends further to the right and left with additional 20th century lean-tos and a loading door at an upper level to the right. The gable ends also have loading doors at the upper level. Attached to the rear left is a single-storey range of outhouses, constructed in rubble and partly open-fronted. The interior has not been inspected.
