Description

COLAN SW 86 SW 5/1 Barn about 50 metres south of - Rialton Barton Farmhouse II

Barn with attached outbuildings. C19, incorporating C15 stonework from Rialton Manor (q.v.). Elvan stone rubble with granite quoins and brick dressings. Slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. Plan: Large barn with midstrey, which has a lean-to at each side. Long range of single storey outbuildings, cart sheds, attached to rear left. Exterior: The midstrey is gabled, with double doors and a single light to left ; small loading door above with brick segmental arch. Set above, stone from Rialton Manor which may have been a 4-centred arch over a double doorway ; the spandrels are carved with shields of arms and an heraldic figure. Lean-to to right and left of the midstrey. The barn extends to right and left with further C20 lean-to's and loading door at upper level to right. The gable ends have loading doors at upper level. Attached to rear left, the single storey range of outhouses, in rubble, partly open- fronted. Interior: Not inspected.
