Description
The Church of St Columb Minor is a Methodist church dating to the late 19th century, located in Newquay. Constructed of squared stone rubble with granite dressings, it has a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The building is planned with a single auditorium, featuring entrances at the front gable and the ritual east-facing rear. It is designed in a Gothic style.
The front gable is raised and features stone pinnacles to the right and left, raised coped verges, and a finial with a triple breather at the apex. The central doorway is a triple-light design with two-centred arched lights, the central light being taller and incorporating Perpendicular tracery. A band course runs across the gable, featuring blank cusped arches to the right and left. Small gabled porches flank the right and left sides of the front gable, each with two-centred arched doorways and hood moulds, leading to pointed arched plank doors. The sides of the church have three paired pointed arched windows with brick dressings, and weathered buttresses. A smaller paired window of a similar style is located on the left side.
A single-story corridor, dating to the 20th century, is attached to the left side and links the main church to a single-story polygonal block. The polygonal block has a hipped roof and round-arched lights. A small, single-story addition from the 20th century is attached to the rear. The interior of the church was not inspected at the time of listing.
