Description

The lychgate at the south west entrance to the churchyard of the Church of St Columba is a late 19th century structure made of granite ashlar. It features a tall pointed chamfered arch, flanked by walls on each side that rest on a plinth. Above the arch is a gable with coping and a cross finial, along with pinnacles that have pyramidal tops on either side. The inner wall is constructed of squared rubble and curves to the right, leading to a flight of eight granite steps that ascend to the churchyard, which is situated at a higher level.
