Description
15 and 17 West Street are a pair of small town houses built in the early to mid 19th century. They are constructed from coursed faced killas with granite dressings and feature a dry slate roof with projecting front eaves. The houses have brick end stacks and a cast-iron ogee gutter. They are designed as a double-depth plan mirror-image pair, each having one room at the front. The buildings are two storeys high and have a symmetrical three-window front, with a blind central window. No. 15, on the left, retains its original 16-pane hornless sash windows, while No. 17 has 20th-century two-pane hornless sash windows. There are central doorways with 20th-century panelled doors, and No. 15 has a blind overlight. The interior has not been inspected. This pair is part of a well-preserved row of modest 19th-century town houses.
