Description
This building is a salt warehouse constructed in 1816 for Francis Pool, lessee. It is made of rubble with granite dressings and features a hipped asbestos slate roof on the main section, while the wing has a concrete tile roof. The warehouse has a deep plan built into the bank at the rear and consists of three storeys with a slightly asymmetrical front that has three windows. There is a wide elliptically-arched doorway located to the right of the centre, with a second-floor opening above it that has old shutters. The other openings have glazing that has replaced the original shutters. The right-hand side has openings that are slightly irregularly arranged, many of which have small-paned top lights and shutters. At the rear, there is a linked parallel wing that has steps leading up to an access platform shared with the second floor of the front building. This wing contains two windows and a doorway facing the platform, as well as two windows at the rear. Inside, the warehouse retains its original floors and roof structure, including granite flags on the ground floor.
