Description
The harbour walls at Porthleven, including the east and west wharfs, inner jetties, and main pier, were constructed between 1811 and 1825 and extended from 1855 to 1858 for Harveys of Hayle. The structure features a combination of rubble walls and large granite blocks, topped with substantial granite copings. Some of the original iron cramps are still in place, while others have rusted away or been replaced with stainless steel cramps. The site includes several large granite bollards, an inner and outer harbour with retaining slots, and a hoisting derrick that was part of a former barrier to protect the inner harbour. Additionally, there are several flights of granite steps and one slipway.
