Description

The Thomas headstone, located approximately 6 metres east of the north aisle of the Church of Saint Sithney, dates from 1823. It is made of incised slate and features a monolith slab with a nowy head and rounded shoulders. The inscription reads: "IN Memory of MATILDA GRACE Tho.S Daughter of THOMAS And GRACE THOMAS who died Sept.r 24th 1823 Aged 4 years and 6 Months," followed by the epitaph: "Death from my Parents snatched me soon away Twas Gods decree that I should no longer stay Therefore Lament me not tis often found That rarest fruit drop soonest to the ground." The inscription for Thomas Thomas is located below ground level.
