Description

Nos 19 and 20 Chapel Street are a pair of 18th-century buildings. They are constructed of brick with two horizontal string courses and brick aprons beneath the window sills. A modillion eaves cornice runs along the top. The roof is covered with slate and has a steep pitch. The buildings are three storeys high and have eight windows. Most windows are sash windows set within revealed casings. No. 20 has windows containing glazing bars. The second-floor windows of No. 19 are 2-light casements, and one is bow-fronted on the first floor. The doorway to No. 20 includes two Doric columns, a recessed pediment, and a semi-circular fanlight. No. 19 has a rectangular fanlight above its doorway. Nos 19 to 28 Chapel Street form a notable group.
