Description
Two flights of steps located 8 meters to the south-west of Cartuther Barton date from the late 17th century or early 18th century. Constructed from granite, these steps connect the main entrance of the house to the south-west. Each flight features low flank walls that widen at the lower level towards the house. The lower terrace has 7 granite monolith steps, while the upper terrace has 10, both flanked by parapets with moulded granite copings. There are square newels with moulded caps at the top and bottom of the terrace, and granite ball finials on two intermediate newels. These steps can be compared to the terraces depicted on the painted panels of the powder room at Cartuther Barton.
