Description
The stables and coach houses located about 20 metres northeast of Pentillie Castle date from the early 19th century and have undergone some later alterations. They are constructed from slatestone rubble, which is colourwashed, and feature brick dressings. The building has a hipped slate roof with lead rolls along the hips and ridge, and there is a gable end stack serving the groom's accommodation.
The layout includes a central range of coach houses, with a wing to the front left that contains stables, and a two-storey wing to the right that houses the groom's accommodation and a front coach house. The central range is two storeys tall and has an asymmetrical front. On the ground floor, there is a round-arched doorway leading to a recessed porch on the left, with inner doors on both sides, as well as two large triple doors and wide double doors with a segmental head. The first floor features nine windows that are randomly arranged.
The front left wing has a central door and a 30-pane window on the first floor to the right and left. The right wing includes a doorway with a louvred vent above, and another doorway in the angle to the main range, with its roof level higher than that of the main range. The front wing has two 30-pane windows at the upper level, with the wall chamfered on the inner side, and double doors at the front with an 8-pane light above. The interior has not been inspected.
