Description

13 and 13A Dean Street is a mid-19th century town house, possibly originally two houses, which has been converted into a shop with offices. The building features stucco with channelled rustications on the ground floor and plain stucco above. It has a hipped dry Delabole slate roof with deep bracketed eaves at the front. The structure has a double-depth plan and a deep wing at the rear.

It stands two storeys tall and has a three-window range. The original horned sash windows are set within moulded architraves on moulded sills with brackets. The windows are paired, with central pilasters, except for a single sash in the centre. To the right, there is a cavetto-moulded round-arched doorway that contains a panelled door and a stilted plain fanlight above. There is a paired sash window to the left of the doorway, which has three consoles above it and a moulded mid-floor string cornice that breaks forward over the consoles. A 20th-century shop front has replaced a former round-arched doorway under the central window and a former paired sash on the left, beneath where the string cornice breaks forward. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
