Description

This is a town house with a shop, built between 1860 and 1862, designed by Henry Rice. The front is red brick with channelled granite ashlar to the ground floor, featuring granite quoins, keyblocks, and a string course, along with some freestone dressings. The roof is slate, covered in bitumen and with a widely-spaced modillion cornice. A brick stack is on the left side. The building follows a double-depth plan, rising three storeys and featuring a three-window front. The windows have keyed segmental arches above the original four-pane hornless sash windows, which sit on bracketed sills, and chamfered jambs. The ground floor has a mid-20th century shop front on the left and a doorway on the right, with a panelled door and a moulded entablature above it. The interior remains uninspected but is likely to contain features of interest. The building is included on the list for its group value.
