Description
This is a village house located on St Stephen’s Hill in Launceston. It likely originated as a 17th-century house, with substantial remodelling occurring in the 19th century. The front facade is stuccoed over a rubble base, topped by a rag slate roof with mid-to-late 19th-century crested clay ridge tiles. A rendered rubble stack is positioned on the rear lateral side. The house has a shallow-depth plan, and a probable 18th-century rear wing extends at right angles to the right. The symmetrical front incorporates a four-window arrangement, with an additional bay on the right. The windows are original hornless sash windows with glazing bars, with wider windows at ground floor level. Two round-arched doorways offer access: the main door has fielded panels and a Y-traceried fanlight, while the secondary door on the right also has a 6-panel door. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to have features of interest.
