Description

Two attached village houses of the early to mid-19th century, located on the north side of Newport Square in Launceston. The houses are faced with textured stucco and have eared and keyed architraves. The roofs are covered in rag slate and feature a decorative crest and pierced clay ridge tiles, with rendered end stacks and a brick axial stack. Moulded cast-iron gutters are present. The buildings have a double-depth plan and are two storeys high, with a four-window front. The ground floor windows originally had 16 panes to the double front of number 7, and are now largely later 12-pane horned sash windows. The houses have 6-panel doors with overlights; number 7 features a late 19th-century fretted porch with a round-arched doorway, sunburst spandrels, and a tented lead roof, while number 9 has a plain doorway to its left. The interior has not been inspected.
