Description
There are two tombchests located 15 meters to the northwest of the tower of the Church of St Michael in Lesnewth. The first tombchest, built in 1783 by Gard and Sons, commemorates Henry Burdon (1783), his wife Catherine (1802), their daughter Grace (1761), and their sons Henry (1792) and William (1826), along with William's wife Christian (1852). This chest is made of slate stone rubble and features a thick slate lid, marked with the inscription 'Gard and Sons, Boscastle.'
The second tombchest, dedicated to Henry Burdon who died in 1874 and his wife Jane, is constructed of brick and topped with a slate lid. It is surrounded by wrought iron railings adorned with fleur-de-lys finials.
