Description
This is a bank barn located approximately 16 metres east of Frythens Farmhouse, dating from around the mid-19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features a grouted scantle slate roof with gable ends. The barn has a rectangular plan, with the ground floor built into the bank at the rear and central opposing doorways on the first floor for loading and winnowing. It likely served as a granary over a shippon on the left and a stable on the right.
The exterior is two-storeys high and features an almost symmetrical west front with four windows. There are three square windows on the ground floor, with two doorways in between; the right-hand doorway is taller, and the left-hand window was originally a doorway. There is an approximately central doorway on the first floor, flanked by two small window openings, three of which have original shutters. The ground floor has 20th-century hopper windows and ledged doors. The interior has not been inspected.
