Description

This barn, likely a granary built above a shippon (cattle shelter), dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed from granite rubble with granite moorstone dressings, and has a roof of scantle slate with gable ends, all heavily grouted. The barn is rectangular in plan. A set of stone steps leads up to a loading doorway in the left-hand end, and there is a corresponding first-floor loading and winnowing doorway opposite. The north-east front has a central doorway on the first floor. The ground floor has three regularly spaced windows, with doorways between, though the right-hand doorway is partly blocked and fitted with a window. Ledged doors are present. Two of the windows may be original; one has bars and shutters, and the other a six-pane fixed light. The interior remains uninspected.
