Description
The walls, gate piers, gates, and adjoining stables at the road frontage behind Bareppa House are likely from the 18th century, with remodels possibly occurring after the stables were added in the early 19th century. The structure features granite rubble, dressed granite, and monolithic granite piers. The stable has a scantle slate roof, while the carriage house has a corrugated iron roof with gable ends.
The road-facing walls include two gateways, each flanked by square-on-plan gate piers and convex quadrant-on-plan walls. At the far right, the stables are positioned end-on to the road, with a carriage house from around 1900 attached to its left side. The single-storey stables feature two windows and a doorway on the left, with an old ledged door and possibly original horizontally-sliding sash windows with glazing bars. The carriage house on the left has front doorways with original ledged doors. The walls are topped with cement copings.
The gate piers leading to the house have 18th-century freestone pineapple finials atop chamfered-headed piers, while the gate piers for the stable yard are topped with granite ball finials. The old wooden gates have ramped top rails. Inside the stables, original standings and fittings are still present.
