Description
The Old Court House is a house that was formerly the site of the Manor courts. It likely dates from the 17th century and was remodelled in the early 18th century. The building features textured render over slatestone rubble and cob, with dry Delabole slate roofs that have gable ends and hipped rear wings. There is a rendered stone gable stack on the left and an external lateral stack on both the front and rear walls on the right.
The house has a three-room, single-depth layout with a through passage plan and a stair turret in the rear right wing. It is two storeys tall and has a south front with four windows, where the right-hand bay is slightly recessed and has a lower roofline. The doorway in the third ground floor opening features a 20th-century door. All the windows are 20th-century, two-light leaded casements.
Inside, the interior remains largely unaltered, showcasing an early 18th-century dog leg turned baluster closed string stair, heavy bowtell moulded beams, a moulded plaster ceiling cornice above the stair, and several two-panel doors.
