Description

This building is a warehouse located on the west side of the Bude Canal, approximately 40 metres south of the Lifeboat House. It was built in the early 19th century and features rubble stone that is now rough plastered, topped with an asbestos slate hipped roof. The warehouse is large and rectangular, with a half-hipped projecting front wing that creates a T-shaped plan. It has three storeys and a symmetrical front with six windows. The central wing on the first and second floors is supported by piers and projects over the wharf, with a platband at the first floor level.

The central entrance on the ground floor, located under the wing, has wide double timber doors. There are timber doors leading into the first and second floor lofts in the front wing. The ground floor has six windows with segmental heads, featuring iron stanchions and inner shutters. The first floor contains six two-light transomed windows, with the end windows being wider, while the second floor has six windows with iron stanchions and inner shutters. The original window frames are similarly arranged on the rear of the building, flanking a two-storey high loading bay. The interior has not been inspected. This warehouse is one of the first to be constructed on the Upper Wharf, historically known as Sir Thomas Acland's Wharf.
