Description

The Militaria Museum, formerly a store, was built on the wharf of the Bude Canal, construction of which began in 1819. It is an early 19th-century building of stone rubble with some brick dressings, topped with a slate roof, hipped at the ends. The building is single-storied and rectangular with a louvre running along the ridge. The prominent front has two windows. A wide central timber door provides access. A small opening is situated on the front at the left, covered by a timber lintel. A larger, fixed window is positioned on the front at the right, also under a timber lintel, featuring brick jambs and a 2-light design with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected. The building has historically served various purposes, including as a salt store, tannery, and warehouse for lime.
