Description
The White Hart Public House is a public house and adjoining shop located on New Bridge Street in Truro. It dates from the 18th century, with a shop front added in the early 20th century. The building is constructed of stucco and has an asbestos slate roof with a hipped end on the right, along with cast-iron ogee gutters. It features a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic.
The public house section on the left has a front with two windows. There are three ground-floor windows and possibly an original doorcase on the right, which includes a six-panel door. The ground-floor windows have late 19th-century horned sashes, while the early 19th-century upper windows are hornless sashes with the glazing bars removed, all set in raised stucco architraves. The building also has two gabled roof dormers with old four-pane casements.
The corner shop has a canted corner with a splayed entrance doorway and a stepped display parapet above. Its shop front features a single light to the left of the doorway and four lights at the right-hand return into Quay Street. The columns have carved capitals, and there is a slit ventilator frieze along with a sloping fascia. The interior has not been inspected.
