Description

This is a detached chimney located approximately 7 metres north of the pump engine house at Chappel's shaft of the Old Cook's Kitchen Mine. It is listed as a Grade II structure and is likely from the early to mid 19th century. The chimney is made of uncoursed granite rubble and has a tapered cylindrical shape with a very prominent moulded cornice. The upper brick stage of the chimney is missing. It is part of a notable group that includes the adjacent pump engine house and the winding engine house to the east. The chimney is currently derelict and was originally associated with the boiler house of the pump engine for the former copper and tin mine.
