Description

This is a direction fingerpost located at a crossroads on the old Truro Road in St Allen. It dates from the late 19th century to early 20th century and features a cast iron shaft. The shaft has the word "CORNWALL" inscribed vertically. It has four arms, each with a raised margin and sans serif capitals indicating directions: (a) MARAZANVOSE 1 mile, (b) TRURO 3 miles, (c) ZELAH 2½ miles. The fourth arm, which indicated St Allen at 1½ miles, is broken and missing. The post has a square pyramidal top.
