Description

The monument to Sophia, Countess of Mount Edgcumbe, located in the French Garden, was erected in 1806. It is made of Coade stone and features a Neo-classical design. The monument consists of a flaming urn adorned with draped swags, which is set on a square corniced plinth that rests on a stepped base. The urn has an eared plaque displaying the name "SOPHIA," and there is an inscription panel on the pedestal.
