Description

Trenowth Barton (East) with adjoining garden wall, north, is a house dating from the 17th to 18th century. It is constructed of shale rubble and granite, topped with a Delabole slate roof and features brick gable chimneys. The building has a two-room plan, which is a surviving wing from a courtyard complex. It stands two storeys high and has three windows, with a central entrance that is sheltered by a lean-to porch formed by a pair of buttresses, and an additional buttress to the left. The ground and first floor windows on either side of the entrance are three-light casements with 30 panes, while the two-light casement above the door has 20 panes, all with timber lintels. There may have been further construction to the left, as indicated by a blocked opening that may have once been a door. An external chimney breast is located on the right gable. The rear of the building displays irregular window openings, mostly consisting of casements with small panes, with one opening on the right being blocked and a small lean-to at the east end. The adjoining garden wall features two granite arched door frames, one pointed with a hollow chamfer and the other round-headed and flat chamfered with a hood mould.
