Description
This is a pair of attached cottages, dating from around the 17th century and extended in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of shale rubble, granite, and has scantle slate roofs with brick chimneys at the gable ends. It has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high. The cottage on the left, which is from the 19th century, features two windows along with a window and door on the ground floor. The lower bay on the right is likely from the 17th century and has a 18th-century flat arch with granite voussoirs above a large ground floor sash window, which is flanked by sidelights. There is also a smaller four-paned sash window in the gable dormer above. The rebuilt first-floor wall includes reused granite carved stones, as does the front of the cottage on the left and the south gable end, which features label stops, ducks within a shield, and a scrolled kneeler. The interior of the 17th-century part has not been inspected.
