Description
Trenowth Millers House is a miller's residence built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from shale rubble with granite dressings, topped with an asbestos slate roof and features brick chimneys at the gable ends. The house has a two-room, double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with three windows. The entrance includes a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight positioned off-centre to the right, above which is a window with four panes and a sash. The other openings are wider and contain six-pane sashes, all set with granite sills and jambstones, featuring very shallow arches and voussoirs made of volcanic stone. The rear of the house has windows with 16 panes, except for a taller stair window with 24 panes and a wooden lattice ventilator for the pantry. Inside, there is a large bread oven in the back kitchen, likely used for baking for the millworkers. The roof structure is a jowelled king post type, with pegged joints.
