Description

Dagworth is a house that probably dates from the 18th century and was partly remodeled in the 19th century. The front is cement rendered, while the rest is made of rubble with slate sills and wooden lintels that are concealed. It has scantle slate roofs and brick chimneys at the gable ends, along with cast-iron ogee gutters. The building has an L-shaped plan with two rooms at the front and a steep-roofed service wing at the rear left, positioned at right angles. There is a central cross passage that leads to the stairs. The house is two storeys tall and features a symmetrical three-window south front with a central doorway. The doorway has a six-panel door with flush-headed bottom panels and is sheltered by an old latticed arched lean-to porch, which is similar to the one on The Square House. There are ground floor French windows on either side of the door and four-pane horned sashes on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected. Dagworth is part of a group of houses that have seen little alteration and are located near the church and around a village square, which adds to its group value.
