Description
The war memorial, located approximately 15 metres east of the Church of St Stedian, was erected around 1918 to honor those who died in the First World War, with later inscriptions added for those who died in the Second World War. It features a dressed granite base with an octagonal plan, topped by a Latin cross that stands on a large stepped base with a canted front. The other sides of the memorial, which would otherwise form an octagon, are enclosed by a semi-circular churchyard wall behind. The cross has a sword in relief on the front, and its tapered shaft rests on a bell-shaped base atop a tall plinth.
