Description
Hendra Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse built from roughly coursed granite rubble with granite dressings. It features a fairly steep grouted scantle slate roof that sweeps lower at the rear, and brick chimneys positioned over the gable ends. The front has cast-iron gutters adorned with lions' heads.
The farmhouse has a double depth plan, consisting of two similarly sized rooms at the front, connected by a cranked through passage that leads to a stair hall. To the left is a back kitchen, and to the right is a pantry.
The exterior is two storeys high and nearly symmetrical, with a three-window south-east front and a doorway that is central to the fenestration. The old door has two bottom panels and later glazed top panels. The windows are late 19th-century four-pane horned sashes set in their original openings. The rear of the house features its original ledged door and 16-pane hornless sashes, except for the original casement window in the pantry.
The interior has not been inspected, but it is likely to retain its original plan and structural features.
