Description

This is a row of three headstones located in the churchyard about 5 metres east of the south aisle of the Church of St Brevita, dating from the early 19th century. The headstones are made of slate and feature shouldered segmental heads.

The first headstone is for James Sturthridge, dated 1816, and includes an incised border, a large cherub's head with wings, and valedictory verses with well-executed lettering. The second headstone is for Mary Sturthridge, dated 1819, who was the wife of James, and it also features a cherub's head with wings along with admonitory verses. The third headstone commemorates Cathrine Stick White, dated 1833, and has an incised border, a stylised cherub's head with wings, and laudatory verses.
